Super D is without a doubt my favorite drift event to shoot. I’ve gone out every time they’ve come down to AVS (I really need to head up north for one) and this year’s event didn’t disappoint. Ryan and the Super D/ Animal Style team really know how to bring together a great group of drivers. It was cool to see Julian’s latest S13. I’m generally not a huge Onevia guy, but the car just looks and sounds so good.
Things got a little bit of a late start on Saturday but if I’m being honest, I was pretty thankful because I was tired as hell. I had just driven back to California from Colorado with my wife. But once the track went hot the usual suspects immediately started turning up the heat.
Speaking of ColoRADo, Tyler Huck of Fools Errand made the trip out again and seems like he’s really gotten driving AVS dialed despite the 930 mile drive between Denver and Apple Valley.
Andrew Chval has one of my favorite cars in California and has become one of my favorite drivers to watch.
Hell yeah brother.
Apple Valley got a bit of a downpour just before the event leaving a few lakes around the track and a pretty slick entry. Quite a few people went mudding.
Jamison Pangilinan was throwing down all weekend. The kid rips and if you haven’t listened to his episode of Goodest, go do that.
This car has been through a few transformations over the years but I think this one is my favorite and really shows the features of the Car Modify Wonder aero.

Watching Ryan Kado drive is a pretty unique experience compared to watching a lot of other drivers. His driving just looks so effortless and stylish while somehow also being super aggressive and snappy. I don’t know how he does it but I’m glad he’s still getting after it.
This S13 looks like it was dropped straight out of a D1 round in 2004 and I’m a big fan.
The expected aftermath. Thank you to the Super D folks for putting on a great event. Unfortunately I had to leave just before the comp started, but it was my first wedding anniversary so don’t hold it against me. My wife is pretty awesome for coming out and hanging/watching the driving while I shot all day Saturday and half of Sunday so she gets a special shoutout. Can’t wait for the next one.
